It
was when Daniil “got into a mess’ with the TV commercials.
‘Unfortunately, ‘to get messed’ is the right word. In 1998 Nescafe
launched a series of commercials telling fun ny
stories of a few students. I was ‘Leonid, who everyone knows where to
find’. The commercial got a regular broadcast on TV, and my face was on
every big board on the streets. As soon as I realized that I’ve got a
high risk exposure to have the Nescafe logo on my face from now on, that
many, including Mosfilm, began considering me like the Nescafe guy, I
quit. Well, a few more commercials followed, but they were not as catchy
and therefore not as dangerous. As for the acting, such projects do no
harm, because in a matter of few second the actor may play a whole
story.’
In 1998 Mark Wyle
offered to a not well known, but ‘promising’ actor Daniil Strakhov a
role of Sebastian in The Twelfth Night play by Shakespeare in
the
Theater n.a. Mossovet. With the instincts of the intellectual actor,
Daniil as well naturally fitted the plays far from recognized as
researching the human’s inner self.
