I’ve got the offer which I couldn’t
resist, i.e., the role of Nikolai Ableukhov in the play Petersburg based on the novel by
Andrei Belyi. Once I opened the book (thank God I love reading!), read
the first and the last edition, and understood what it was all about, I
simply couldn’t say ‘no’...'
1997-1998
Petersburg was the first
play Daniil got en gaged
in shortly after having graduated from Schukinsk Drama School (1997).
According to the play, Nikolai Ableukhov was a young bomber,
zealously trying to build and fulfill his own theory of the social
justice. In the meanwhile, he failed to acknowledge that his intentions
were more a reflection of his own fears and troubles. The play (based on
the original novel by Andrei Belyi) was directed by Sergei Golomazov.
It was not an easiest piece of work, but that got Daniil to understand
the very essence of the actor’s profession. Strakhov’s acting did get an
acknowledgment by Moskobskiye Debuty (the Moscow Debutes)
Award as the Best Male Act.
