Daniil is merely excited about his drama school years:
'With a little confidence in myself, I had huge doubts as to whether I
should do this for the rest of my life and, more importantly, do this
well. All I can say now is that the drama school gave me basically
nothing. Call it a bad luck: after Eugeniy Simonov had passed away, our
class hit the crossroad. On one hand, we were officially with Schukinsk
Drama School; on the other hand, we felt we belonged to Simonov’s class.
Eventually we ended up nowhere. Apparently, we all had lots of problems.
As to myself, the studying process was rather complicated, because I
could hardly understand how to play and how to do it correctly…
That’s why I stick firmly to my beliefs
that the person should be mature enough to decide what profession to go
for. Every person has his own time for maturity: some become conscious
of themselves at the age of 14, some should wait for this awareness
until 25… It’s a well-known fact that boys are slower in their growing
up somehow. And when a 17-years old boy turns himself into a drama
school, he must have been either brilliant or genius. But when he’s
messing around like a regular 17-year teen… He is merely aware of
himself, his state of mind, body, let alone the identity… How could he
possibly play and whom? That was my case precisely… It was terrible!
Constant headache, complicated studying, little understanding. I had to
deal with sophisticated material, like Heidegger’s works...'
