Theatrical Wednesday of Vernik Brothers
Zhenovach. My acting was bad during
the first year but I had been given the Award already. And then after a
while, as I gained some experience my acting improved. I hope it did…
- I guess, I saw this play later,
after you improved your acting because, in my opinion, you did a great
job. It was very dramatic and tragic. Your theatrical life was so
diverse afterwards. You worked at the Mossovet Theater for a while, then
at the Malaya Bronnaya Theater; and at the same time you were
successfully working on television. I must mention “Poor Nastya” that a
lot of people remember and love you by, “The Astrologer” and “The Love
Talisman”, as well.
-
I hope everyone forgot
“The Love Talisman”. I would name Rogozhkin’s “Transit”, Malyukov’s
“Storm Gate” and “We are from the Future”. I had different projects -
some more successful than others. It’s my life. It’s my way. What’s
there to be ashamed of?
- There’s nothing to be ashamed of.
I remember that while working at Gogol Theater, you were taking part in
Mark Vail’s “The Merchant of Venice” at the Mossovet Theater. And then
you had some wonderful roles at the Malaya Bronnaya Theater – “The
Picture of Dorian Gray” and “Caligula”.
-
And a less wonderful role
of Caligula. (Laughing)
- Dear friends, Daniil Strakhov is a
very self-critical actor; and believe me, it’s not coquetry. It is
really so and is very valuable.
-
You were convincing me
that I am a good actor until 4 a.m. I kept telling you: “No! No, Vadim,
I am a bad actor!”
- Talking about your acting career,
we should mention Andrei Eshpai’s TV series, “The Children of Arbat”. It
was a multi-part movie; I wouldn’t call it TV Series. You did a notable
job, playing a negative character. You were playing the antipode of
Yevgeni Tsyganov’s character.
-
I would even say I played
the antipode of Rybakov himself. His alter ego. And if we were talking
about theatrical works, then, as you say, “we should mention” the
“Mandragola”, also known as “The Love Potion”.
- Directed by Konstantin Bogomolov.
